Mille libri, sempre con te.

Quando mi sposto in treno, la maggior parte del mio bagaglio è costituito da libri.
Alla ricerca di una soluzione ho scoperto che esistono dispositivi, gli ereader, simili a palmari, che
riescono a ricreare perfettamente l’effetto dell’inchiostro sulla carta stampata.

Questo si ottiene grazie all’utilizzo di schermi particolari detti e -ink.
L’ e-ink è una “nuova” tecnologia sviluppata da Philips .
I punti che vanno a formare l’immagine sullo schermo sono ottenuti facendo ruotare in modo opportuno una serie
di sfere presenti all’interno dello schermo. Tali sfere hanno due facce : una nera ed una bianca.
Una tensione pilota la rotazione di tali sfere. Quando l’immagine è formata non è più necessario fornire energia.
Ciò porta ad una elevata durata delle batterie (7000 cambi pagina)

I vantaggi di questi ereader rispetto ai libri tradizionali sono :

Peso minore.
E’ possibile portare migliaia di libri con se.
E’ possibile modificare la grandezza dei caratteri.
Durata della batteria elevatissima.
Moltissimi libri gratuiti (soprattutto classici) (vedi progetto Manuzio).
Possibilità di acquistare libri a prezzi ridotti.
Impatto ambientale ridotto (non più carta).

Svantaggio:

Non tutti i libri, soprattutto recenti ed in italiano sono disponibili in formato digitale.

Tali ereader con tecnologia e-ink sono disponibili soprattutto negli Stati Uniti.
